In-office Whitening
Mild to moderate sensitivity may occur. This usually passes
within 24 hours after treatment is completed. If the sensitivity
is severe or persists, contact our office.
Teeth Whitening works best on yellow stained
teeth. Grey teeth are more difficult to whiten, or may not respond
to treatment. Such cases may require porcelain veneers to achieve
the desired results.
Results can be quite dramatic: However, upon completion
of the teeth whitening process, the color will blend and re-hydrate
for a more natural look.
Long-term results vary from patient to
patient. This can depend on many factors including habits such
as smoking or drinking coffee, tea, wine, and/or cola. Avoid these
for at least 24 hours.
Touch-up applications may be needed every 3-6 months.
This can usually be accomplished in 1-2 home treatments. Home whitening
kits are available through our office.
Existing restorations (fillings),
crowns, and bonding will not whiten. Therefore, these restorations
may need to be changed in order to match your new smile. As with
all medical and dental procedures no guarantees have been expressed or implied.
If
you have unsightly old silver restorations, ask us about changing
them to bonded tooth colored restorations. Old crowns with dark
gum lines can be changed to more natural tooth colored porcelain crowns.
If
your friends wonder why you are smiling so much, tell them about
us. It would be our pleasure to help them achieve dental health for the
best of their lives too.
